Jerusalem Governorate July Report Reveals 3 Fatalities, 115 Arrests

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM — The Jerusalem Governorate said its report for the month of July documented the killing of three Palestinians and the arrest of 115 others in occupied Jerusalem, in what the Palestinian body described as a continuing escalation of Israeli violations against the city's residents and holy sites.

According to the report, the arrests were carried out as part of Israeli raid campaigns, detentions at checkpoints and roads, and the use of force, part of what the Governorate characterised as a repressive policy directed at Jerusalem's Palestinian population.

The report said that around 10,000 settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during the month, under the protection of Israeli police. The Governorate has repeatedly pointed to such incursions, together with restrictions on Muslim worshippers' access, as part of what it calls efforts to alter the historical and legal status of the site, the third-holiest in Islam.

The Governorate also documented, among the month's violations, home demolitions and deportation orders targeting residents and public figures, framing these measures as part of a systematic policy aimed at changing the demographic and geographic character of occupied Jerusalem and pressuring Palestinians toward displacement.

It said the violations were taking place amid what it described as an environment of impunity and a lack of accountability, and renewed its call on the international community to act to protect Palestinians and safeguard the city's Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The figures could not be independently verified. Israeli authorities describe their operations in Jerusalem and the West Bank as security measures, and say arrests and demolitions are carried out in response to security threats or planning-law violations.
